Why the Growing Numbers of Meth Addiction in Georgia?

The growing number of meth abuse disorder cases in Georgia, much like the rest of the United States, has caught even many experts by surprise. While it’s difficult to pinpoint the sole driving factor in our nation’s sudden change to this highly addictive, extremely dangerous drug, there are several trends we can point out that have worked in favor of Ingrained Recovery to provide better and more efficient treatment plans for methamphetamine use.

Does Our Meth Rehab Georgia Treat Dual Diagnosis Clients?

One thing that has become apparent is the affinity for methamphetamine abuse among those who are:

    • Officially diagnosed with a mental health disorder already
    • Abusing another drug simultaneously
    • At a high risk of falling victim to both

When it comes to co-occurrence issues, methamphetamines are one of the most commonly abused drugs in combination with a mental health disorder. And this hasn’t always been the norm – only since the onset of the fentanyl epidemic have methamphetamines been so strongly linked to so many debilitating mental health disorders. Why the sudden relationship?

The smoking gun could actually be the primary ingredient and method of manufacturing this new Mexican Cartel “SuperMeth” that’s surfaced on the heels of the fentanyl epidemic. Because of a lack of access to ephedrine, one of the primary ingredients in one specific formulation of methamphetamine, cartels have been forced to move to what’s known as the “P2P” method.

According to many active users, the primary ingredient, phenyl-2-propanone, is giving users far more than they bargained for. Because of the volatility of the chemicals used in present-day batches of this Cartel “Super Meth,” users are experiencing mental health degradation faster than what was previously expected – much faster.

Meth and Mental Health Conditions

Meth Abuse and Mental Health Conditions

For some time now there’s been a connection between methamphetamine and psychosis. However, in the past, this condition would surface in a few specific scenarios:

  • Extended abuse of methamphetamine (multiple years)
  • Gross overuse or overdose of methamphetamine
  • Long periods of meth abuse without sleep

With current cases of meth use disorder, some users are experiencing full-scale psychosis and rapid mental health decline within a matter of months – sometimes even weeks. To make the situation more complicated, many present-day meth users are also adding fentanyl to their substance abuse regimen, taking an even bigger gamble with their health.

A Solution for All of the Above

Many users are currently facing a co-occurring disorder situation – but instead of one drug of choice and a mental health disorder, clients are seeking relief from multiple addiction challenges on top of the mental health disorder.

Luckily, Ingrained Recovery features an expert and compassionate staff that’s able to rise to the occasion, providing cutting-edge treatment solutions available through multiple care levels to accommodate client profiles of all types.

Here’s a sample of the type of atmosphere you can expect from our professional team in Georgia for meth rehab.

Inpatient Meth Rehab

At our inpatient treatment program for methamphetamine, you’ll generally stay for a period of 30, 60, or 90 days. During your time at an inpatient stay, you’ll have access to all of our therapeutic options, including on-on-ones with our mental health and substance abuse professionals. You can also opt for group therapy to engage with your peers, along with holistic treatment services that provide healing for the mind, body, and spirit.

Our treatment providers offer a range of therapeutic services, including evidence-based treatment, behavioral therapy, family therapy, and many more impactful forms of treatment for long-term recovery.

Inpatient Meth Rehab

Outpatient Treatment Program

Our outpatient services deliver the same forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and other forms of behavioral and talk-based treatment. The primary difference is that with outpatient you are not required to live at the facility. In fact, you’ll only stay for around -hours per day. Outpatient is generally recommended for those who have already completed some type of inpatient program and would like a smaller step down before entering full recovery at home.

Intensive Outpatient Addiction Treatment Program

This is the next level of intensity up from standard outpatient treatment options. Generally, these require an upgrade from six hours per week to around ten – so you’d be faced with about three to four days of attendance per week if you broke your sessions down into two hours.

Again, your options include various behavior modification therapy, and trauma-informed therapy, along with group and family sessions.

Partial Hospitalization Program

Clients who require more intense forms of therapy but aren’t able to commit to staying overnight for inpatient treatment generally have a partial hospitalization program to fall back on. These are essentially identical to inpatient rehab with the primary difference being a PHP doesn’t require any overnight stay.

You’ll get to return home each night but are required to return home each morning to participate in a full 8-hour day of therapy. These programs are ideal for those with severe addiction issues and who have potentially attempted some form of therapy in the past but for whatever reason couldn’t complete all the requirements needed for a full graduation.

Aftercare

Aftercare is generally the most important portion of the latter half of your treatment for methamphetamine addiction in Georgia. During aftercare, you’ll prepare to make a full return to a normal way of life, gaining important information regarding programs that help you continue your care and awareness regarding substance abuse. This may include a primary care mental health specialist, AA meetings, SMART Recovery, or something similar.

Aftercare preparation is vital because it sets the tone for how the rest of your recovery goes – your length of success, comfort levels, and overall confidence.
